The sustainable and vintage styling of this shoot was inspired by the stunning gorge-filled landscape of the Finger Lakes region in upstate NY. A color palette of blue, terra cotta and gold evoked a natural and organic feel with a touch of elegance. This styled shoot at the Inn at Taughannock was planned with the goal to showcase chic eco-friendly wedding inspiration. Seed paper stationery, sustainably and ethically made attire and jewelry, vintage rentals, organic materials, dried floral arrangements, and potted plants helped reduce the carbon footprint of this wedding. And the historic inn that overlooks Cayuga Lake is located right by Taughannock Falls. The inn has great access to incredible views and natural scenery, oh-so-perfect for an outdoor nature-inspired summer wedding.
A styled outdoor lounge is the perfect place to enjoy some signature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour. Revival Rentals designed a beautiful lounge that featured a modern white sofa, accent chairs, and pouf seating. A patterned rug, assorted pillows, wooden tables, and a vintage bar cart completed the design.
We featured eco-friendly attire as well. The talented dress designer behind Hyacinth Bridal emphasizes sustainability and ethical practices in her work. The bride wore a flowing gown featuring a wildflower lace bodice with cap sleeves and open back cutout. The gown was paired with a dried floral hoop bouquet that can later be repurposed as wall décor, and gold floral statement earrings made by Floreia, a Philippine-based company that creates ethically-produced sustainable fashion. The groom wore a light blue cotton linen blazer, floral patterned navy tie, navy pants, copper hammered cufflinks, brown shoes and a dried floral boutonnière.
The reception design featured a wooden farm table and bench seating from Brown Built Rentals. The table was adorned with potted plants, floral napkins, linen runner, white plates and gold flatware. A rustic sweetheart table featuring colorful vintage chairs, an eco-friendly cheesecloth runner, and potted plants overlooking the wetlands completed the reception design. For a sweet ending, The Hudson Cake Studio designed a stunning three-tier cake decorated with pressed flowers and raised gold edges, as well as sugar cookies topped with edible rose petals.
